Field Trip to West Allis City Hall

We had a great time at city hall today! Students got to meet the mayor (Dan Devine), be city council members, view early voting and much, much more! We were also given exclusive tours of the green room the city uses to make promotional videos, the printing press room, video room, and IT computer data base of all of West Allis. And to top it all off we had awesome weather for our walk to and from city hall with a personal police escort. Check out these pictures of our adventures!

Readers'Theatre

Last week student participated in readers' theatre. Students worked with a script to read with expression and even add in some action! Each script was based on checks and balances in our government. We learned about the impeachment process, nominating a Supreme Court judge, and vetoing laws that are unfair.

Fire Education

Today the West Allis fire department stopped by to educate students about the importance of fire safety. Students learned how often to check a fire alarm, identify safe exits in a house, and what to do in case a fire occurs. Students also were given a demonstration of how a fireman can climb a ladder to fight fire and were shown all the equipment firefighters use. Finally Sparky, the fire dog, made an appearance!

Our First Assembly

Two Fridays ago we had our first assembly. This was a PBIS assembly that modeled PAWS behavior at school. Students loved when Mr. Kelly came onto stage to stop any "un-paws-like" behavior. Thank you to everyone who filled out their at home PAWS matrix at the beginning of the school year! Students are always encouraged to patctice responsibility, always be safe, willing to make wise choices and show respect.

A Glimpse into Fun Friday

At the end of every week students get to have some free time on Friday afternoon! Students who have all work turned in and no "think sheets" have earned this free time. Here is a glimpse into what students choose to do during this time.

Helping our Buddies Read and Make Witches

Students have been so helpful, patient and respectful when helping our 4K buddies. This past week we helped them read books about witches and then helped them make their own witches!
