The Tower Challenge

Due to the success of the marshmallow challenge, students again used a hands on, STEM activity to learn about engineering and working in teams. Students were challenged to build the tallest tower they could with the 45 plastic cups that we're provided to them. Then students were asked to build a structure that would support the most weight. Some towers held over 50 books! The results were awesome. Students encouraged one another, worked as a team and were respectful. All the while there was great excitement and enthusiasm for towers crashing and being crushed!

Marshmallow Challenge

Students worked together to build the tallest tower for their marshmallow to stand on. Students received 20 pieces of pasta, 1 foot of tape, 1 foot of string and a marshmallow to complete this challenge. It wasn't easy, but we were able to learn about being members of a team. Additionally this was a great STEM challenge for the students who love science, engineering, building and being hands on.

Introducing the 2015-2016 class of room 205!
We might need to work on our group photos...
